The Mammaries 4th August 2011 Part One

It was a spectacular summer day as we started up the mountain to The Mammaries.

The flowers are still two weeks late – they should be at this stage by the middle of July.  But in Long Meadow the green orchids are at last flowering – these are displayed against the lushious leaves of the false hellibore.

Another flower just starting to show is the small-flowered paintbrush.  It is a very intense purple colour.
