I have lived for more than 30 years as a Wilderness Dweller. Most of that time was in cabins I built myself far from the nearest road, high in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada. My "retirement" home is accessible by a bush road but still far from neighbours. I live off the grid, and operate this blog by solar-powered satellite internet.

The Deck

We had a week of pretty nice weather.

sunrise seen fromn Ginty CreekI put a piece of plywood up for a mini deck.

temporary deck at Ginty CreekI’m going to have a real deck there one day, but I needed something in a hurry to stop the chair legs sinking into the thawing mud.

Looking the other way, I see the swamp and the pond.

looking down from my deck at Ginty CreekThere is usually a stiff breeze when the sun shines and it is too cold to sit there for long, even wearing my down coat.  But it is so glorious to be able to enjoy the sun and listen to the birds twittering and scrapping around the feeder.
